Terms of Use

The plain-English rules for using this site: what the numbers mean, what you may reuse, and what we promise — and don't.

1. What this site is

HomeFixPaid (homefixpaid.com) is run by Bast Arts d.o.o., Ljubljana, Slovenia. The site is free to use. It shows three kinds of numbers: what homeowners in a metro area told the U.S. Census Bureau they paid for a job, in a public survey; amounts that homeowners and contractors reported to U.S. cities when they applied for building permits; and reports sent in by homeowners. By using the site you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site. How we handle information is explained in our Privacy Policy.

2. What the numbers are, and what they aren't

A survey number is the median of what homeowners told the U.S. Census Bureau's American Housing Survey they paid, for a metro area (the city and its suburbs) and for jobs done in the survey years. It is not a price for your job, and prices today may be higher. The Census Bureau publishes these numbers without any information about individual households.

A permit value is the amount written on a building permit. It is not a price, not an invoice, and not what the homeowner finally paid. Cities use it for fees and records, and some people round it, estimate it, or leave parts out. We show three kinds of amounts and keep them apart. Estimates are what a contractor offered. Paid amounts are what a homeowner paid — as a survey median for a metro area, or as one homeowner's report. Permit values are what was listed with the city. Homeowner reports are what one homeowner told us. We read each one before it appears, but we don't see the estimate or the bill, so we can't check the amount or the details. They are marked "reported by the homeowner". We show ranges and counts, never invented averages. We are not connected with any city, contractor, or brand.

3. Not advice

The site is for information only. It is not construction, financial, legal, or insurance advice, and it is not an estimate for your job. Prices change, and every house and job is different. Before you sign anything, get written estimates from licensed contractors and check your local rules.

4. Using what's on this site

You may quote our numbers and text, and link to any page, as long as you name HomeFixPaid and link to the page you used. Please don't copy whole pages, republish our tables as your own, or collect our pages automatically (scraping, bots, bulk downloads) without asking us first. We may block anyone who breaks these terms.

The permit records come from city open-data portals. Where a city publishes them under an open licence (for example Fort Worth, CC BY 4.0), that licence lets you reuse the records, and nothing here limits it. If you do, credit the city and say what you changed, as the licence asks. Each city's terms are on our Sources page. Our own text, charts, design, and the way we picked and cleaned the records are ours.

5. Homeowner reports

When you send a report, you confirm that it is about a real job and true as far as you know. You allow us to show it on this site for as long as the site exists, without payment. You can ask us to remove it at any time (see 6). We don't change anything in a report. We only approve it or reject it. Don't send anything that isn't yours to share, and don't include names, addresses, or contact details; the form has no place for them. We may approve, reject, or later remove any report without saying why. Rejected reports are deleted within 7 days of review.

6. Mistakes and removal

We check our data, but mistakes happen. If you find one, email [email protected] and we will look into it and fix it when needed.

If you believe a permit on this site is about your home and you want it removed, email us and we will remove it.

To remove a report you sent, email us the city, the job, the amount, and the year. We can't tell which report is yours, so we remove all matching reports.

7. Our responsibility

We provide the site as it is, with its flaws. We don't promise that it is complete, up to date, or free of errors, or that it will always be available. We are not responsible for decisions you make based on this site. This does not cover harm we cause on purpose or through serious carelessness, and it never takes away rights that no website terms can take away.

8. Other sites

We link to city portals and other sites. We don't control them and are not responsible for what they show or how they handle your information.

9. Changes

We may change these terms. The new version applies from the date shown at the top. If a change is important, we will say so at the top of this page. A change to these terms doesn't widen what we may do with a report you already sent.

10. Law

These terms are governed by the law of Slovenia. If you live elsewhere, this does not take away any protection from the laws of your own country or state that apply no matter what these terms say. If a court says one part of these terms doesn't apply, the rest still does.
